Gwen Shamblin is an author and the founder of Weigh Down Ministries, a non-profit organization that helps individuals lose weight through Biblical principles.
Remnant Fellowship Church, founded in 1999, is a Christian church that stresses the application of Jesus Christ's teachings. The Church’s strong sense of community spills over to its recreational hockey team, the Phoenix Flyers. Recently, the team was featured in a USA Hockey article due to the weekly crowds and support the team receives.
The Flyers, who compete at the Ford Ice Center, are made up of Remnant Church members and regularly enjoy more than two hundred fans at their games. In addition, the Church community hosts food truck parties before games and brings along a team mascot known as Ash and a pep band. Family members and friends compete together on the Church's hockey team, which is recognizable by its green and white uniforms.
